To us, Social Value is about contributing to a better society by addressing social, economic, and environmental needs in the present, and for a sustainable future. Social value refers to the broader benefits that organisations, projects, or actions create for society beyond financial or economic gains. It encompasses positive impacts on people, communities, and the environment, such as improving health and wellbeing, increasing social equity, fostering community resilience, and enhancing environmental sustainability.
What does Social Value look like at ActiveMe 360?
As of November 2024, we’ve been accredited the Bronze Social Value Quality Mark which means ‘We’ve pledged to create, measure and independently report our social value.’
Social Value Quality Mark CIC is an independent social enterprise that challenges rigour, celebrates high standards and drives local spend. The purpose of the Quality Mark is to cultivate and recognise the highest known standards in values-led business. It was created to assist organisations to demonstrate social impact and value claims, and also helps them to align with current legislation.
There are 4 levels of accreditation, each acknowledging an increasing level of maturity in terms of social value measurement, development and reporting. It is one of the most rigorously tested standards of its kind in the UK.
We plan to publish the Social Value pledges we’ve developed in 2025 and begin reporting our impact on a quarterly basis. We will also publish an annual Social Value Impact Report at the end of the company financial year on our website and across our digital channels.
Now we’ve secured the Bronze, we intend to apply for our Silver application in late 2025.
Over a 12-month period, we collaborated closely with Social Value Business to identify key themes and areas of focus that align with both our business objectives and the communities we serve. Together, we evaluated the social, environmental, and economic impacts of our operations in line with the UK’s Social Value Act, which requires public sector procurement to consider social value alongside financial metrics. We also incorporated relevant principles from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure our focus promotes sustainability, equality, and wellbeing.
Through this work, we’ve developed 8 pledges and 23 Key Value Indicators:
We pledge to generate a positive economic impact in the local communities we work in. This commitment includes actively supporting local businesses, SMEs and VCSEs (voluntary, community, and social enterprises). Through our interactions and the questions we ask, we aim to promote and champion environmental and social consciousness.
We pledge to minimise our environmental footprint, reducing carbon emissions, and educating young people through our deliberate actions on the importance of responsible consumption and waste reduction.
We pledge to ensure our programs are accessible and inclusive for all. We will actively engage with all stakeholders to reach out to children and young people in communities facing social inequality and the most barriers to access.
We pledge to provide every child and young person with a positive experience of physical activity, sport and education, offering pathways to further opportunities in the sector. Our programs prioritize maximum physical activity to foster a lifelong passion for leading a healthy lifestyle.
We pledge to provide education, support and personal development opportunities to key people in children and young people’s lives, to inspire and empower everyone to value an active lifestyle beyond our reach.
We pledge to offer career pathways and personal development opportunities for our team. We will actively promote diversity and create a culture that embraces diverse perspectives. We will ensure fair and transparent pay practices.
We pledge to bring together influential voices to shape positive physical activity, education and sport experiences for children and young people. We will actively engage in discussions and initiatives surrounding youth physical activity, sport and education to lead the conversation and drive positive change.
We pledge to support our local community by actively raising awareness of key issues, to raise funds for causes that meet our mission, and to engage in initiatives that uplift and benefit those around us.
Using the digital platform, Impact Reporting, we are able to measure, report and communicate our social and environmental impact.
Every year, we will release a data report that summarises the impact we have had against our KVIs to date. While our themes and pledges will stay the same, our KVIs will be reviewed and updated when they have been met.
As an organisation our Safety value underpins everything we do from the policies we follow, the rules we enforce and the team we work with.
Social Value
As a proud Social Enterprise, we do things differently to ensure our profits are reinvested back into local communities, to encourage positive social change for your children and your family. As part of this commitment, we engaged the services of Social Value Business (SVB), an organisation that helps businesses to understand their social value and Environment Social Governance (ESG) to accelerate growth, inspire loyalty, win business and build reputation.
By working with SVB, we’ve been able to see what value our services and reinvestments are currently adding to local communities, what more we could be doing, and how best to measure the impact of our commitments.
