Case Study | Maths on the Move

We've been running our MOTM programme at Merdon Junior School in Eastleigh, since September 2022.

Initial Challenge

To support with the English and Maths curriculum at Merdon Junior School in Eastleigh, providing a unique take on these core subjects. Increasing the confidence and conviction in children with lower confidence in answering questions and supporting their resilience and independence to have a go at more complex problems in Maths and understanding and application of grammar within in English. To support with confidence of knowledge of Times Tables to increase access and participation in Maths lessons.

Approach

We met with Sarah Cunningham (Acting Head) to understand their needs. What groups we’ll be working with, which children may need additional support.

Results

Since setting up the Maths on the Move programme one of the groups has seen an average increase of 25.47% increase from the ‘Pre-Post’ lesson scores. Currently, one of our year 4 groups taking part in our English on the Move programme are averaging over 46% increase from their ‘Pre-Post’ lesson questions too!
